Since 1882, this event is held in Test format between two rival countries, England and Australia. In the entire history of the Ashes, a total of 70 series had been played in which Australia is leading England by 33 wins to 32 with five series were drawn. For this year, England will be the host of the event.

The first Ashes Test took place in Edgbaston in Birmingham. It ended by Australia winning 251 runs against the home team. They made a figure of 284 runs in 80.4 overs. Steve Smith scored the most runs on the first day of the Test. His performance led the team and surprised a lot of fans since his 18-month suspension from playing international cricket. Aside from those records, he scored his tenth century in the series and 25th century in Tests.

It was Australia’s first win at Edgbaston since 2001. The two teams previously had a head-to-head match at the same venue during the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup semi-final. England thrashed the Aussies which led them to the final.
